Clarifying positioning, simplifying offerings, and restructuring the website to support growth and execution

CASE STUDY
Let's Walk Through It...
01
Context
Affirma is a leadership-focused HR consultancy founded by an experienced executive with a strong reputation and deep network.
The business had grown through relationships and referrals, with a broad range of services and a well-developed point of view.
Now, clear articulation and structure were needed to support positioning, communication, and growth. A common pattern in professional services that are developed from the founder’s network.
02
The Challenge
-
No clear positioning or differentiation, with the business operating as “we do everything”
-
Overly dense website with significant copy but no clear structure or prioritization
-
Difficulty defining and communicating services, offerings, and how the work actually functions
-
Execution efforts (design, content, and site development) moving without a cohesive direction
The result:
Strong underlying capability, but no clear foundation for how to position, communicate, or scale the business.

04
What We Realized
The initial goal was to create a website that clearly represented the business and supported growth.
But early in the work, it became clear the challenge more than copy and presentation. We needed to bring in articulation and structure.
-
The business had developed through relationships and reputation rather than a defined positioning
-
Services and capabilities were broad, but not clearly organized or prioritized
-
Existing frameworks and thinking were strong, but not translated into a usable, visible model
-
The website attempted to communicate everything at once, making it difficult for users to understand what mattered
Without a clear foundation for how the work was defined and structured, it was difficult to position the business, communicate its value, or build toward new offerings.
Turning point:
Clarifying positioning, simplifying the offering, and structuring the work into a clear model created a foundation that could support both communication and growth.
05
Internal Shifts
-
From reactive, relationship-led work → defined and structured service model
-
From broad, undefined offerings → clear prioritization and focus
06
External Shifts
-
From dense, unfocused content → structured, guided communication
-
From “we do everything” → clear positioning and articulation of value
-
From disconnected execution → aligned strategy, messaging, and site experience
07
Outcomes
-
Clear articulation of services and positioning, enabling more confident communication across the business
-
Website structured to support understanding, navigation, and action
-
Defined offerings and prioritization, guiding both internal decision-making and external messaging
-
New initiatives (including retreats and expanded service delivery) successfully structured and launched through the site
-
Foundation established to support bringing on additional consultants and scaling delivery
Working with Jamie gave me a level of clarity I didn’t have before. I had built the business through experience and relationships, but this was the first time everything was clearly defined. As a team, we could clearly and consistently say what we do, how we do it, and why it's important.
That clarity was a great foundation for the website refresh. It made the process more efficient, and the final result feels aligned with the work in a way it never had before.
